the Glamorgan Duo is formed of pianist Cheryl Tan and 'cellist Tabitha Selley

The Glamorgan Duo formed during their studies as scholarship students at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff. As an ensemble they are committed to giving a modern platform to female composers with astounding musical voices, which were sadly quashed by the constraints of societal norms during their lifetimes.

Our Musical Journey and Projects

Cheryl and Tabitha have been playing together for almost 7 years and have been good friends since then. They have enjoyed recent performances at Oxford University’s Queens College Lunchtime Concert Series, and St Briavel’s Church (Wye Valley) and look forward to bringing their new Illuminated Voices project to venues and education hubs across South, East and West Wales. In August 2025 the Glamorgan Duo presented a recital of works by Rebecca Clarke, Fanny Mendelssohn and Mel Bonis at the Expansive Canvas Conference in Trinity College, Dublin. This performance incorporated their academic stance towards music making, with their love of chamber music and collaborating with each other as long-standing colleagues and friends. They are looking forward to giving a lecture recital at the upcoming 'Collaborative Piano Practices in France' conference in Bangor, North Wales. They will be presenting three sonatas for cello and piano by the composers Marie Jaëll, Marcelle Soulage and Mélanie Bonis.

Cheryl and Tabitha are looking forward to touring their Illuminated Voices programme in South Wales and Southampton in February 2026. As a duo they are also keen to expand their remit within the educational sector, via masterclasses and outreach projects committed to directly impacting the next generation of music making.
